CnC Mercedes Benz Trac 1400 textures

We have slightly unwritten the C4 resource system. Suppose I want to import a new BaseColor texture for the MB-Trac 1400, then I create the folder

Cattle and Crops \ Game \ Win64 \ Assets \ Import \ Mods \ machines \ mercedes_benz \ trac_1400 \ textures

and drop in it the texture “mb_trac_1400_outside_a.png”.

PNG, JPG and TGA images are supported. We create our textures using the Substance Designer, but if you work with Photoshop you probably want to use TGA because Photoshop can not handle PNG properly.

Then I go to Import Texture and select the texture from the import directory.

If I import these, it is not saved in the import but in the data directory:
Cattle and Crops \ Game \ Win64 \ Assets \ Data \ Mods \ machines \ mercedes_benz \ trac_1400 \ textures \ mb_trac_1400_outside_a.tex

This is also the texture that is displayed in Open Texture and can be selected in the Material Manager.
We use the metallness workflow PBR standard for the textures similar to how the Unreal 4 engine works with it.

You essentially only need 3 textures:
BaseColor = RGB + A, where the alpha channel is used for Transparency or Opacity
Normalmap = RGB
Reflectionmap: R = Roughness, G = Metal, B = Ambient Occlusion, A = Dirt Mask

When you specify these textures in the Material Manager, a shader is generated from them. If you go to Edit Shader, you can also create a custom shader there after which the Material Manager will no longer be displayed. Since you have to be a bit careful when you save that but you can then understand well how the textures are read in order to process the shading.

If a texture with Open Texture is not displayed, it may be that something failed during the import.
Mostly there is an error message in the console.

Textures must be in width and height 2 as base so: 128, 256, 512, 1024, etc.

We also plan to create modding videos so you can learn our tools step by step, but due to lack of time we can not deliver them to you yet.
